Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement. The effect is an optical illusion of motion due to the phenomenon of persistence of vision, and can be created and demonstrated in several ways. The most common method of presenting animation is as a motion picture or video program, although there are other methods.
Math 12 is the final course in the four-course sequence of Math at Shawnee High School. Over these four years, you have learned a lot in mathematics and the fields of Algebra and Geometry. Math 12 is the finishing of the old Algebra II and beginnings of PreCalculus and even Calculus.

Unit will focus on the basics of geometry with definitions being established for terms that can be used throughout the course.Beginning work with drawings will also take place that will set the framework for future drawings in the class.
Unit Two Trigonometry
Unit will focus on working with triangles to find missing sides and angles in both right triangles and non-right triangles.Students will also be required to take learned information and apply to real-world problems to solve for missing angles or missing distances to solve problem.
Unit Three Coordinate Geometry
This unit will be focused on using the coordinate grid to both solve for slope and distance of missing sides and also use this information to make conjectures about shapes or objects.
Unit Four Theorems
This unit will focus on students using geometric facts to prove objects to be true or false from conjectures that are provided.Students will work with prior information to prove or disapprove characteristics of given statements.
Unit Five Circles
The unit will focus on parts of a circle and working with those parts to gain other information.Unit will also focus on looking at angles and objects that are created within a circle and also created outside the circle.Students will use prior knowledge of characteristics of shapes and objects.
Unit Six Applied Concepts
Unit will focus on taking prior information learned throughout the course and apply the information in problem solving situations.Students will also be using volume formulas to help solve real-world problems.
Math 12 is the final class in the four-course sequence of math classes here at Shawnee High School. Starting with Math 9, you have gained a lot of knowledge and numerous experiences in mathematics. By Math 12, the student will have moved through what was once known as Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Math 12 is a continuation of Algebra 2, leading up to preCalculus and, eventually, Calculus.
The topics that will be covered in Math 12, that you will be responsible to know about at the end of the course, are:
The main purpose of the PreCalculus course is to prepare students for a Calculus course.Approximately a third of the course will focus on numerically, algebraically, and graphically looking at different kinds of functions, such as quadratics, exponentials, logarithmics, polynomials, and rationals. The second third of the course will be dedicated to the study of trigonometry.Unit circles, radian measures, angle identities, solving triangles, and vectors are some of the major topics that will be discussed during this time.During the last third, sequences and series along with the topic of limits will be studied.Other course objectives include strengthening fundamental algebra and geometry skills commonly found on standardized national tests, building mathematical confidence, becoming better innovative, critical thinkers, and enjoying the mathematics found in our everyday lives.
